PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 15, 2008

VHP-America condemns the gruesome, barbaric, terrorist attacks in Jaipur, on May 13, 2008.

On behalf of the Hindu American community of USA, Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) extends its deepest condolences and expresses its heartfelt sympathies to the friends and families of the victims of these cowardly, gruesome and mindless terror attacks in Jaipur, on Tuesday, May, 13, 2008. VHPA shares the distress and grief of the families of the departed souls and assures that Hindus of America stand united with their brothers and sisters in this time of grief and sorrow.

Several landmarks and temples in the 300 year old Pink City, Jaipur, were the main target of eight serial bomb blasts which blew up in the space of a few minutes, causing the death of over 70 innocent people and injuring scores. Among the killed were about a dozen women. It being Tuesday and Aarti (Prayer) time in these temples when the blasts occurred, the turnout in the temples was larger than usual. Director General of Police AS Gill said it was "obviously a terror attack", suspecting Bangladesh-based HuJI behind the attack.

VHP-America is saddened by the inability of the Government of India in protecting the places of worship, life and property of Hindus in the Indian sub-continent. VHP-America is deeply concerned at the systematic killing of Hindus and the Jehad against places of worship in the Indian subcontinent.

VHP-America condemns the Government of India for its continued failure in preventing such gruesome terror attacks. Its inability to apprehend and punish the perpetrators of terrorism and Islamic Jehad, their trainers, financers and the ones harboring these terrorists, in India, is inexcusable.

VHP-America strongly condemns this assault on human dignity perpetrated in India, by Radical Islamists and Islamic Jehadists supported by Islamic regimes.

This by no means is an isolated incident. It forms a part of a systematic game plan of Islamic-Jehadists, aided and abetted by India's neighboring countries to kill and maim Hindus in India and attack Hindus in their places of worship thereby causing chaos and disruption of the Hindu way of life. VHP-America urges the world community to act to ensure that these unprovoked, planned acts of violence against Hindus are stopped forthwith.

The pattern is evident from the list of terrorist attacks on Hindu Temples, and attacks during celebrations of Hindu festivals, amongst many recent terrorist attacks in India:
